seeks to enhance economic ties with India
Kolkata,
Jan 18: China on Friday said that trade and investment ties
with India would have to be enhanced for mutual gain.
Consul
General of China in Kolkata Mao Siwei said at business meet
organised by Bengal National Chamber of Commerce & Industry
here today that trade ties between the two countries has increased
20 times since 1999.
He
said in 2007, the volume of bilateral trade stood at 38.6
billion dollars.
Siwei
said that the recent visit of India's Prime Minister Manmohan
Singh would definitely boost trade ties between the two nations.
He
said that both China and India were endowed with huge population.
For India, it was favourable as majority chunk of the population
was young.
Regarding
West Bengal, he said that the state was building its image
as a preferred investment destination in the country.
He
said that the economy of the state was booming.
