Ahmedabad, Sep 29 (IANS) As many as 15 crude bombs were recovered
and defused here Monday, just a day before the nine-day Navratri
celebrations begin even while this Gujarat city has been recovering
from the serial bombings two months ago, the police said.
Police officials said the bombs were found in small tobacco
tins in Kalupur area in the walled city. The bombs were of
low-intensity and not sophisticated, and were defused soon
after.
The recovery of the bombs has caused some anxiety among the
police force as it comes just before the Hindu festive season
of Navratri culminating in Dashera as well as the Muslim festival
of Eid ul Fitr.
On July 26, 22 synchronised bombs went off, most of them in
east Ahmedabad, killing 56 people and injuring at least 150.
In the days following the bombings, 23 low-intensity bombs
were recovered from Surat and were defused.
Investigative agencies were checking if the recovered bombs
were part of any larger conspiracy or linked with the recent
terror attacks.
While a blast in Bangalore on July 25 claimed one life, serial
bombings in New Delhi Sep 13 claimed 25 lives.
A low-intensity crude bomb went off in Mehrauli in south Delhi
Saturday, killing a 10-year-old boy, and left 22 others injured.
