"Bondage...in the uncultivated savage is to his consciousness very small....What he struggles against is the bondage of physical nature, the lack of physical gratification...(his) mind being very little developed. The vast mass of humanity is very little removed from the animals. Not only so, but in many instances, the power of control in them is little higher than that of the lower animals." - Swami Vivekananda

PM Modi refuses selfies on Yoga Day

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who often obliges people with a selfie, on Sunday refused one to a volunteer while participating in the yoga day event at Rajpath.

Soon after addressing the gathering, Modi climbed down from the podium to join over 35,000 participants to perform 'asanas'.

As soon as the PM joined the front row to perform yoga, a young woman wearing a 'volunteer' badge requested him for a selfie.

With folded hands, the Prime Minister politely declined to oblige her. As soon as he started practising asanas, the woman returned with a colleague and took position behind him and started performing yoga. Soon, securitymen in civil dress whisked them away.

Another man, wearing a white headgear, approached the Prime Minister. He too was whisked away.

Modi is known to take selfies with world leaders and commoners and posting them on social media.
